What a month regarding my photography! On April 1st I already took an image I considered to be my picture of the month. It was a beautiful image of a great egret that just flies away. This shot was just wonderful and it is now used as my screen background on my computer in the office and at home. I also took a great pano image that was made from 31 images taken with the 12-24DX at 24mm in portrait mode and stitched with PTgui. Though it was a great image it was not an issue to choose this one because I have no idea how to display such an image on my website. And than I took some great images of Omega ( my sisters lovely puppy ) but Omega already was my picture of the month in February. Beside all that I took tons of great bird - shots at the Neusiedlersee NP and almost 4000 images with my D200 this April. But the image that I liked most was taken on a lazy day at home. The weather wasn´t great and we had a very busy week so we decided to not leave the house. It was rainy but than the light was very special. I opened the window and saw a great rainbow over the roofs of the city. I grapped my camera and took a couple of shots. It was still raining and the sun was shining too. Then I looked the other side directly into the sun and the street leeding out of the town. I immediately realized the potential of the images and took a couple of shots strait into the sunlight. The rain, the fog and the lensflare gave this image a very special kind of sepia look that reminds me of old images from NY from the Godfather part II - movie. I did a little PP work to enhance the effect. I reduced the color saturation and changed the contrast to high in Capture. The green traffic light is the only spot of color in the image which adds to the effect. I really love that image in print. It does not look very impressive on the web ( 600 pixels is simple too small ) but the print is amazing. It really looks like a very old photography and than you spot the traffic light and if you look closer you see the amazing level of detail in the image. Here are two small 100% crops. Are you able to find them in the image?
