February 2007: You guess it: Warm, gray and wet - at least on weekends. But I took a couple of images on my two business trips to Hungary. This is an images I took on our way back home. It shows a detail of a very large, abandoned factory. This building is really large and I guess it gave work to thousands of people in the days of communism. Now it´s a ruin and because it´s to expensive to tear it down it´s still there. It´s there as a reminder of somehow better days where unemployment was an unknown word. Today the people in Hungary know this word. Some have better jobs and more money but a lot of them have lost their jobs and these people have less than before. Prices have gone up and living became almost as expensive as in Austria but the average income is still only the fifth part of the average Austrian income. 17 years ago the wall came down in Berlin and the eastern european countries opened their borders. A lot has changed since then but not always for the better. M-Mode: 1/110@f4.9 400ASA, WB auto, enhanced in PS
