February 2009 |

As I already wrote for the pom January: What a winter! I haven´t seen so much snow since the days I was a kid and that is to be honest a couple of days ago. I love snow but the problem is when you have to stand up 30 minutes earlier to dig out your car ( always do this before you take your shower! ) and go to work on a lug runs that´s supposed to be a road you start to dislike it. As a consequence I did not take to many images in February at all. The one above I liked the most because of it´s impressionistic look. I just opened the back door and shot the falling snow against the trees in our garden. Even with 800ASA the shutterspeed was long enough to blurr the snow flakes just enough for the best effect. Shorter speed and such an image is to static with snowflakes as little white dots in the image. Longer shutterspeeds and they blurr to much. But with the possibility to check the results right after the shot you can easily find the best shutterspeed for the situation. Back in the days of film there was a lot of guess work and spoilt opportunities. Second image shows the typical road conditions on my way to work. setting for the main shot: A - Mode, 1/60s@f8, 800ASA, 18-200VR at 200mm second shot: Panasonic FX100, 80ASA |
