February 2010

It took me a while to update my website. Today is the 8th of May 2010!

I say it again. This entry comes very late. Reason: ( You may guess it ) I was extremely busy. Work, work, work. I guess I have to find a way to break out more often.

The picture of the month is missleading - there was no early summer. Mostly it was business as usual cold, wet, grey and some snow. We did manage to visit the Neusiedlersee after a shopping trip at the nearby designer outlet. We did not walk around a lot because of the wind you can see on the image. On the other hand there was a cloudless sky and an early feeling for summer. I´m a person who loves the winter and the seasons in general. I can not imagine to live in a place where there are no seasons at all. I love all four of them and most of all I love the pleasent anticipation. But I have to admit that in February I start to get sick of the winter. So to soak up the sun when ever itßs there is crucial. This is exactly what we did that day and what I have tried to capture in the image. That´s why I included the sun in the frame and went for manual exposure to ensure that the image looks like what I have seen that day.

For some reason I do not fully understand ISO always goes to 400ASA when in manual on my 500D. But it doesn´t matter a lot as the image quality at 400ASA is almost as good as it is on base ISO. Maybe there is a chance to override but I´m just to lazy to find out. Most of the time I still shoot my 5D.

The other images gave you a better impression of how this winter looked like for me. They were taken on the road in the Czech Repuplic and Poland. Eastern Europe countries still can look somehow ugly especially during late winter. Next time I will take a flight when visiting our branch office in Poland.

The last image was taken during a very nice concert of a young band. Their parents were my age. There music was really good but something was missing. After a couple of minutes I realised what I missed - protest! When I was young my music did not please my parents. And the same was true when my parents were young ( and Rock and Roll was born ). Nowadays it seems that the young already get streamlined, ready for business and ready to work on their career instead of enjoying their youth. I think no I´m sure that they will regret when they are older. So here is this months wise conclusion: If you are young enjoy life. Career and everthing else will come soon enough.
