Since I started to use digital cameras I like that I don´t have to wait to see my results. I don´t have to bring the film to the lab and take it from there 3 days later. I don´t need to scan the slide ( a really awkward task ). Instead of this I can look at the result in the field. I can correct exsposure, framing or depth of field while I´m on location by simply do another shot. I don´t have to worry about the cost. The drawback: The quality of the digital cameras I tested were far from what I know from my Nikon F100. In general: most of the digicams on the market are extremly slow and are very limited as you can´t change lenses ( in fact they are point and shot cameras ). Altough I realized that I did shot very little with my SLR anymore beside my holidays because I like the digital image. But now everthing has changed: I found a used Nikon D1 in a shop and I bought it. Now I have all the good things digital cameras can offer and all the flexibilty and quality I know from my "normal" SLR. There is no doubt that digital cameras become the standard within the next years. The photo was taken in the butterflyhouse in Vienna on the 22th January. I used my very new D1 ( second day ) with the Sigma 3,5/180mm EX Macro ( 270mm on the D1 ). |
