It was a misty November day - in other words: a prefect day to stay at home or visit the Zoo. I went to the Zoo because I like the light conditions on such days - they are perfect for portraits and colors are very powerful. I shot a lot of peguin pictures because my favourites animals at the Zoo in Vienna, the king penguins, finally got their chance to stay outside of their indoor cage. Now they can move around in a big outdoor run ( if it is cold and if the air is clean enough ) together with smaller penguins. On my to the car I stopped for this little fellow. The squirrel remained stationary only for a second. Time enough to shot one frame with my 80-400VR handheld. This is why image stabilization is so great because it helps you to get the shot. To shoot red squirrels in the park near the Zoo is very difficult because the get closer than your telelens will focus. Picture was taken with Nikon D1 and 80-400VR handheld at 200mm ( equ. ) with 1/60sec. Settings: -0.5 EV, Cloudy -3
