What´s this? No colorfull autumn image? No blue skies in contrast to red and yellow leafes? No rivers in mystiv, foggy light. Just this: An almost black and white image of a building? Yes! Why? Because I really like this image. Why is it called human rights? Is it a statement regarding how we should life in our modern world? Is it to critize our lifestyle? Does it deal with what happens just now in some parts of the world? None of these. I just liked the image and the reason why it is called Human Rights is that the first article is written on the wall in the upper right half of the image. I discovered this at home and was impressed that I placed it so well in the image without even realizing what was written there. A very nice coincidence that gave the image it´s name. I made this image yesterday. I had taken a day off from work and walked through the city with my 24-85 lens attached on my camera. I don´t use this lens very often as I normally grab either for a wide angle zoom ( the 12-24 ) or my favourite tele-zoom ( 70-200VR ). Yesterday I shot all images with this lens and I have to say that it´s really a great lens and that this "normal" range zooms are very versatile and not at all boring. I always have trouble with my 12-24 because it´s long end is very short ( nice phrase ) and because of this I found myself constantly changing lenses. I take a shot or two and than change to a longer lens and back. Yesterday I worked with what I had ( I had the 12-24 in my bag but haven´t used it ) and concentrated on taking images instead. Sometimes I think of trading the 12-24 and the 24-85 to get the 17-55 as I really don´t like to switch lenses a lot. But maybe the forthcoming 18-200VR is the best option for a walk in the city with just one lens. Is this "reduce to the max"? Did I finally come to the conclusion that property is a burden? That I don´t need all this stuff? None of these again, I´m afraid. I´m just a gearhead that wants another lens. A good friend of mine tells me regulary that he laughs his socks off regarding all the pathetic crap I write under my POMs. Sometimes I think he is right, partly, but hey this is my website and I can write whatever I like even if it is the biggest .... Is it really that late..., have to... settings: A-Mode, 1/60@f8 at 24mm, 200 ASA, WB: cloudy but corrected to sunny in Capture |
